- Poirier induced 11 groundball outs in the first five innings of work.
- The junior recorded her 26th career win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kristen McPeek singled to start the fifth and was moved over on a sac bunt. Taylor Drayton then came up and reached on a fielder's choice before Julia Wyatt came in to pinch run for her. After Wyatt stole second, Livingston came up with an RBI single into left for Army's first run of the day. Â
- With two runners on, Amelia Trotter sent a two-strike pitch into the gap in left center for a two-RBI double to extend Army's advantage to three.
- The Huskies manufactured four hits, all singles, the rest of the way. However, the Cadets kept them on the bases and did not allow a single run to cross en route to the shutout win.
GAME 2: JACKSONVILLE STATE 6, ARMY 3
ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Trotter recorded the Cadet's lone two hits of the game, while driving in one of the team's three runs.
- It marked the seventh time in her career that she had a multi-hit game.
- Courtney Springman made her first collegiate start.
- Drayton made her first appearance in the circle and tossed 2.1 scoreless innings of work, while throwing 14 of 18 pitches for strikes.
HOW IT HAPPENED Â
- The Black Knights capitalized on a couple of Gamecock fielding mishaps in the second inning. After McPeek drew a one-out walk, she made her way over to third once Ally Snelling got to first on an error. McPeek and Snelling would both later score in the inning to put Army ahead 2-0.
- Jacksonville State knotted up the score at two in the bottom half of the third, but the Black Knights retook the lead in the fourth. Army loaded the bases up and with two outs, Trotter came through with an RBI single through the left side. The Cadets could not generate any more offense in the inning and left three stranded.
- In the fourth, the Gamecocks plated four runs and went ahead 6-3. Jacksonville State held that three-run lead and did not allow an Army hit the rest of the way.
UP NEXT
- Army will resume play tomorrow with a pair of games at the River City Leadoff starting with a 1 p.m. rematch with Jacksonville State. The Cadets will later take on Jacksonville at 6 p.m.
