WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army continues to face its gauntlet of ranked opponents this weekend when the team travels to No. 14/16 Syracuse.
The contest will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday from the Carrier Dome.

#9 ARMY (3-0, 0-0 Patriot League)
- The Black Knights are riding a three-game winning streak for the 2018 season.
- Army will again test its talents at Syracuse as it will be the 15th straight game played at the Dome.
- Last season, David Symmes scored the game-winning goal against the Orange with one second remaining to prevent overtime.
- It is the first of two games on the road for the Cadets, the longest stretch of away contests for Army this season.
- Army looks to continue its hot streak at the Dome after topping Syracuse 14-13 last season.
- The Cadets are off to a 3-0 start in 2018 with wins over UMass (18-6), NJIT (14-5) and No. 10 Rutgers (9-7).
- It is the second straight year that Army has begun with a 3-0 record.
- After last weekend's victory, the senior class boasts 35 wins as a group.
- Army held Rutgers to a season-low seven goals and has allowed seven or less goals in the first three games of the season.
- Jon LaMonica posted a career-high nine ground balls in the win against the Scarlet Knights.
- Nate Jones has tallied two hat tricks in 2018, while David Symmes, Conor Glancy and Ted Glesener have each recorded one this season.
- AJ Barretto earned his first win in net against Rutgers last weekend with six saves. He allowed seven on 32 shots faced.

- Syracuse is 1-1 entering the game after falling to No. 3 Albany last week 15-3.
- The Great Danes held Syracuse to the Orange's lowest single game goal total since 1973 (two goals).
- Syracuse had a pair of three-goal games since then, the last coming in 1991.
- The Orange did open the season with a 21-4 victory over Binghamton.
- Brendan Bomberry paces Syracuse's offense with five goals and three assists.
- Stephen Rehfuss follows with five points on three goals and two helpers.
- Danny Varello leads the team with 5.0 ground balls per game and a .600 efficiency on the faceoff.
- Defensively, Tyson Bomberry tops the Orange with two caused turnovers and adds two ground balls.
- Dom Madonna has two starts under his belt this year and has been on the field for 105 minutes of action.
- He has a 10.86 goals against average and a .441 save percentage.
MAKING RANK
- The Black Knights are off to a 3-0 start for the second consecutive year.
- The Cadets rank third in scoring defense with 6.50 points per game.
- Army is tied for fourth nationally in scoring margin at 7.67.
- LaMonica leads the squad with 17 ground balls and is 28th in the country in ground balls per game at 5.67.
- Barretto's 5.78 goals against average is good for fifth in college lacrosse, while he ranks 17th in save percentage (.548).
PRESEASON HONORS
- Surdick has headlined the preseason awards for Army. The junior defender was named to the Inside Lacrosse Media Preseason All-American second team earlier this week.
- Surdick was also voted the Patriot League's Preseason Defensive Player of the year.
- Symmes joined his teammate on the All-American list on the honorable mention.
- He was also named to the All-Patriot League Preseason Team.
NATIONAL RECOGNITION
- The Black Knights have moved up in national polls after their 3-0 start to the year, and after topping 10th-ranked Rutgers by two goals.
- They were slated 9th in both the Nike/US Lacrosse Magazine Poll and Inside Lacrosse Maverik Media Poll.
FILLING THE GAPS
- Although it returned a wealth of its roster, Army will have to replace some key players from last season.
- On offense, the Black Knights will look to make up for Cole Johnson's point production.
- Johnson tallied 48 points for the Cadets on 29 goals and 19 assists.
- Nate Jones and Conor Glancy will look to fill Johnson's shoes on the attacking end.
- Perhaps the main loss to the Black Knights' is on the faceoff where specialist Dan Grabher had a .628 efficiency.
- On the defensive side of the ball, Reaves Klipstein was the gel that kept them working as a well-oiled machine.
- Dom Ricca has stepped into the communication role, while Jon LaMonica will play a key role with matchups.
- AJ Barretto returns to net for the Black Knights behind the strong defensive unit.
CLASS OF 2018
- The senior class boasts 34 wins in their careers in an Army uniform.
- They are one of 13 senior classes to have at least 34 career wins.
- The group accounts for 32 points, 50 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers through the first three games of the season.
- Army's seniors have produced half of the offensive points so far.
NATIONAL AUDIENCE
- The Black Knights will play on CBS Sports Network for three contests this season.
- The first matchup on national television is at Boston University on April 7 at 3:15 pm as part of tripleheader of Patriot League action.
- The following week, the greatest rivalry in college lacrosse, Army-Navy, takes center stage at Michie Stadium with a noon faceoff on April 14.
- The final regular season game for the Black Knights on CBS Sports Network will be the final Patriot League matchup of the season at Loyola at 7 p.m. on April 20.
- The semifinal and championship rounds of the Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Championship will be televised by CBS Sports Network for the 10th-consecutive season.
- The semifinal round is set for Friday, April 27, with the championship game scheduled for Sunday, April 29.
- All three games will be hosted by the tournament's top overall seed.
- The Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Championship will also be televised live by CBS Sports Network on Sunday, May 6 at noon.
EARLY ARMY LEADERS
- Jones and Glancy lead the Black Knights offensively with 10 points apiece. Jones boasts a team-leading eight goals, while Glancy has six.
- Ragno boasts a .676 faceoff efficiency and is second on the team in ground balls with 10. LaMonica leads the squad with 17.
- AJ Barretto has been the Black Knights' starting goalie and has made 17 saves. He posts a 5.78 goals against average and a .548 save percentage.
