Penalty Kick Madness Sends Army to Semis
November 06, 2018 | Men's Soccer
BOSTON – In a Patriot League Tournament match that came down to penalty kicks, it was the Army West Point men's soccer team celebrating in the end after Ibrahim Seye netted the game-winning strike to put the Black Knights past Boston U. on Tuesday night at Nickerson Field.
"This was one of those games as a coach where I didn't really have to say or do very much," head coach Russell Payne said. "The guys were extremely focused from the warmup to the final whistle. In the spirit of our Army brothers on the gridiron, we had to lay down and bleed a little bit, but we got up, kept fighting on, and we persevered. This was an important win for us."
Army was victorious after winning 5-4 on penalty kicks and will head to the semifinal round of the Patriot League Tournament to take on top-seeded Loyola in Baltimore on Friday at 4 p.m.
