WEST POINT, N.Y. – Despite a late rally, the Army West Point hockey team fell to Air Force on Saturday night 4-2.

The Falcons jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Marshal Plunkett put Army on the board. Air Force scored its third goal, but Daniel Haider netted a backhanded score to keep the Black Knights in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons jumped ahead in the second period with a power play goal two minutes into the second period.
- Air Force scored again at the 5:40 mark when Walker Sommer and Kyle Haak worked the puck past Trevin Kozlowski on the post.
- The Black Knights netted a goal off the following faceoff to cut the Falcon's lead to one.
- Tipper Higgins won the faceoff, getting the puck to Taylor Maruya and Andrew Quetell.
- Plunkett brought it up the ice and beat almost every Air Force player on the ice to score on Billy Christopoulos.
- Army's goal was 11 seconds after the Falcons' score.
- Air Force netted another, three minutes into the third, but the Black Knights kept fighting.
- Haider scored a backhanded goal halfway through the final frame, his first of the year.
- The Black Knights were on the attack, pulling Kozlowki for the extra attacker. Air Force quelled the comeback effort, as Brady Tomlak buried the puck into the empty net at 19:19.

- Both of Army's goals were scored by freshmen.
- Plunkett and Haider both recorded their first-career scores tonight.
- Quetell and Matt Berkovitz tallied their first-career helpers.
- Maruya notched his second assist of the season and 20th in his career.
- Kevin Dineen aided in Haiders goal to mark the sophomore's second assist of the season and fourth point in his career.
- Kozlowski posted 22 saves on the night.
- The Falcons improve to 45-26-6 in the all-time series.
