Army Suffers Setback to Sacred Heart

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point hockey team suffered a 4-2 setback to Sacred Heart on Friday night.

The Pioneers scored first, but the Black Knights were able to tie it up when Brendan Soucie scored a power play goal.

Sacred Heart answered back with three-straight in the second period to put the game out of reach. Army had a late rally with a goal at the 7:06 mark in the third when Trevor Fidler netted a goal on the man-advantage, but the Pioneers took the game, 4-2.

- Sacred Heart jumped on the board first with an even strength goal 13 minutes into the game.
- Army netted one on the power play three minutes into the second stanza to even the score at 1-1.
- With the seconds ticking down on the power play, Fidler and Matt Berkovitz swung the puck behind net and up to Soucie at the high slot.
- The junior sniped the puck past Brett Magnus low on his stick side.
- The Pioneers answered back with three consecutive goals in the period to go ahead 4-1.
- In the third, the Black Knights battled back, but the lead by Sacred Heart was too much.
- Army netted another power play goal in the final frame
- Berkovitz took a precision shot at Magnus and Mason Krueger jammed it in front. The puck was loose and Fidler trailed the play to bank it home from the doorstep.
