MIAMI – After the TYR Fall Classic at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center came to a close on Saturday, the Army West Point women's swim and dive team finished sixth with 369 points.
Florida Gulf Coast bested the weekend competition with 478.5 points, with Florida International (454.5), TCU (390), George Washington (387.5) and Grand Canyon (384.5) rounding out the top five ahead of the Black Knights.

"I am very proud of our women today," head coach Mickey Wender said. "We faced some adversity and they responded well. We had to make several substitutions and they did a great job in a challenging situation. This was a great character building and learning experience for our team."

Army will open the dual season on Friday, when the Cadets trek to Amherst, Mass., for a meeting with UMass at 5 p.m.

ARMY NOTABLES
- Day two began with Cecelia Croman, Kara Wineinger, Madison Berg and Bailey Smith placing fourth in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:46.41.
- Croman was back in the water for the 200 back and she finished with the second-best time in the event at 2:04.02.
- Monica Sowinski scored for Army in the 500 free after she placed sixth by touching the wall at 5:10.44.
- In the 200 IM, Rebecca Morel was the top finisher for the Cadets once she clocked a time of 2:11.05, which was good for sixth.
- On the 1-meter board, Serica Hallstead placed sixth after compiling a score of 180.10.
