AMHERST, Mass. – After winning eight events, Army West Point women's swimming and diving team defeated UMass, 175-125, for a dual victory on Friday night at Joseph R. Rogers, Jr. Pool.
The win against the Minutemen was a significant one as head coach Mickey Wender captured the 400th victory of his career.

"I am so proud and honored to share the experience of my 400th win with the finest young men and women in America, as well as my staff," Wender said. "It's humbling to think that I've been at this for 29 years. I have loved every second of it. I love this team and have no doubt that this will be the best season in program history.
"It was a great day for our team," Wender added. "We we're very tough and raced hard. This was a tough week and the team responded well."

ARMY NOTABLES
- The Black Knights defeated the Minutemen for the sixth time in program history.
- In the 1000 free, the first individual event of the meet, Monica Sowinski placed first with a time of 10:44.47. Sidney Evans (10:52.23) and Meaghan McGovern (10:58.19) finished right behind.
- Sowinski also captured the win in the 500 free with a time of 5:11.75. Isabelle Malinowski followed in second after touching the wall at 5:12.66.
- Brianna Romaine was Army's top finisher in the 200 free after she placed second at 1:57.21.
- Cecelia Croman (57.12), Bailey Smith (58.56) and Lauren Carag (58.82) took the top-three spots in the 100 back.
- Croman would go on to win the 200 back (2:05.14) and finish second in the 100 fly (58.33).
- The 100 breast was highlighted by Kara Wineinger's first-place finish with a time of 1:05.69.
- In the 200 fly, it was Malinowski topping the competition after touching the wall at 2:08.45.
- Mia Rankin paced the way for the Black Knights in the 50 free, posting a second-place time of 24.42. She later took second in the 100 free (53.67).
- In the 200 breast, it was Wineinger (2:24.52) and Rebecca Morel (2:26.82) finishing first and second, respectively.
- Serica Hallstead placed second on the 3-meter board with a score of 229.04. Heather Yoshii followed in third with her score of 207.67.
- The duo finished third and fourth, respectively, once Hallstead totaled 254.46 and Yoshi finished with a score 235.79.
- The 400 free relay squad of Madison Berg, Rankin, Romaine and Bailey Smith bested the competition with a score of 3:33.82.
