Black Knights Suffer Setback to Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Army West Point volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback to Navy on the road Saturday night.

Courtney Horace notched her second-career double-double in the match.

The game was part of the Star Series presented by USAA.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST SET (Navy 25, Army 18)

The Black Knights and Midshipmen went back-and-forth to start off the match.
Navy claimed a slight lead though and maintained it through to win.
Horace posted a team-leading four kills in the set, while Nikki Lum dished out six assists.

SECOND SET (Navy 25, Army 16)

The Midshipmen and Cadets tied the set five times in the second and also had two lead changes.
Navy would pull away however to claim the set, 25-16.

THIRD SET (Navy 25, Army 23)

Army had a late rally in the third to keep itself alive thanks to five-straight points.
The Mids committed an attacking error before a service ace by Emmy Barnhorst forced Navy to call timeout.
Allie Strong notched a kill before back-to-back ball handling errors by the Mids brought Army within one.
Navy went on two capture two of the next three points to win the match.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES

Horace notched her second-career double-double in the match with 10 kills and 11 digs.
Strong tallied nine kills on the night.
Barnhorst and Sydney Morriss totaled two blocks each.
Lum had 12 digs tonight.

UP NEXT

Army will be back down to the area next Friday to take on American at 7 p.m. The Black Knights will then host Bucknell at Gillis Field House on Sunday at 2 p.m.
