Wilson’s Late Heroics Lift Army to Series Sweep

ERIE, Pa. – Junior Michael Wilson's goals with 11 seconds left in regulation and 3:23 into the overtime period powered the Army West Point hockey team to a 3-2 victory over Atlantic Hockey foe Mercyhurst on Saturday evening.
The Black Knights secured their first-ever series sweep at Mercyhurst and are riding a five-game winning streak which includes three consecutive wins. Army sits atop the Atlantic Hockey standings early in the season with as the only undefeated team in the conference with a 3-0-1 mark.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After falling into a 2-0 hole through the first two periods, Zach Evancho put the visitors on the board within the first minute of the third stanza. The Black Knights cycled the puck around the horn before a cross-ice pass from Brendan Soucie found Evancho at the back post for the tally.
- As time wound down in the third period, Colin Bilek fired a one-timed slap shot from the top of the left circle that was blocked. The puck rebounded off the glass and made its way to the far post where Wilson tapped it in with 11 seconds left to tie the game.
- Wilson sent the Black Knights home with a victory after netting the overtime winner as well. Wilkinson fed a pass from the point to below the goal line to Dominic Franco who found the Fond du Loc, Wis., native in the high slot for the power play score.
ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- The Black Knights are off to their best start in Atlantic Hockey since 2010-11 when they began conference play with 6-0-1.
- Army's three-game winning streak is its longest since Nov. 3-10 last season.
- Army earned its second come-from-behind victory of the season.
- Sophomore netminder Trevin Kozlowski improved to 4-0-1 on the season after a 24-save performance.
- The Valencia, Calif., native has made at least 20 saves in each of his last five outings.
- Wilson scored his first two goals of the season with his fourth-career multi-goal game.
- The Fond du Loc, Wis., native's game-winner was his 10th-career power play tally and eighth game winner.
- Evancho potted his team-leading fourth goal of the season.
- The Buffalo, N.Y., native is riding a three-game goal scoring streak and has scored a point in six of the team's seven games.
- Senior defenseman Dalton MacAfee dished out two assists in the game.
- The Needham, Mass., native produced his third multi-point game of the season and second of the weekend after notching a goal and an assist last night.
- It was the eighth multi-point effort of his career.
- MacAfee and Alex Wilkinson are tied for the team lead in points (9) and assists (7).
- With an assist tonight, Wilkinson has recorded a point in all seven games this season.
- Rookie Colin Bilek tallied his first-career assist in the game.
- Dominic Franco tallied his second helper of the year.
- Brendan Soucie distributed his first assist of the season and 15th of his career.

- The Black Knights return home to Tate Rink to face service-academy rival Air Force for a two-game series on Friday and Saturday. Friday night's contest will begin at 7:05 p.m., while Saturday's faceoff is slated for 8:05 p.m.
