WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point hockey team returns to the Empire State to face Sacred Heart at the Nassau Coliseum on Saturday.

ARMY (8-10-2, 6-7-2 Atlantic Hockey)
- It will be the second meeting of the season for the two squads after they battled to a 5-5 tie on Nov. 21 in Fairfield, Conn.
- Army's last league game came on Nov. 24-25 when it hosted Canisius.
- Since then, the Black Knights picked up a pair of wins over No. 17 Colgate (3-1) and No. 13 New Hampshire (4-3) during a four-game non-conference stretch.
- The game Saturday will mark Army's first neutral event of the season.
- The Black Knights will be looking to climb the Atlantic Hockey standings with points throughout the rest of the season.
- The only non-league game approaching is against the Royal Military College set for the end of January.

- The Pioneers are looking to start the second half of the season on the right foot after going 1-7-3 in their last 11 games dating back to Nov. 5.
- In their last time out, Sacred Heart earned a point on the back end of a home-and-home with Holy Cross.
- The Pioneers dropped a 4-1 decision on Dec. 29 before battling to a 5-5 draw on the 30th.
- Sophomore Vito Bavaro leads the team with 18 points and 11 goals, followed closely by Marc Johnstone's 17 points and a team-high with 11 assists.
- Brett Magnus has started 13 of the team's 19 games and holds all four of SHU's victories.
- He has made 378 saves on 427 shots, good enough for a .885 save percentage and a 4.01 goals-against average.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Black Knights concluded the non-league portion of their schedule with a series at #10 Minnesota who has won the last six B1G Championships.
- Army and the Gophers skated to a close game on Friday with a one goal difference until the third period and an empty net goal put things out of reach for the Black Knights.
- Brendan Soucie netted Army's lone goal of the weekend late in the game on Saturday.
- It was the program's fifth goal against the Gophers and 19th of Soucie's career.
- Jared Dempsey picked up two more starts in net for the Black Knights and totaled 58 saves.
Dempsey difference
- Rookie net-minder Jared Dempsey has taken over the crease for the Black Knights while Cole Bruns is out of the lineup, performing admirably in his first collegiate action.
- The Grosse Point Farms, Mich., has seen action in six games while earning the starting nod in five of those contests.
- His collegiate debut came in the first meeting against Sacred Heart when he stopped all 15 shots faced in 32:14 minutes of action.
- In Dempsey's 330 minutes between the pipes, he has posted a 2.55 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage.
- Despite owning a 2-3-1 record, Dempsey's minutes have come against quality opponents such as No. 17 Colgate, No. 13 UNH and two starts at No. 10 Minnesota.
ALL ABOUT THE DEFENSE
- Army's D-Pair of MacAfee and Wilkinson has been a standout on both ends of the ice.
- MacAfee leads the team with 13 assists and ranks 23rd nationally among defensive scoring with a 0.75 points per game average.
- Wilkinson tops Army with three game-winning goals this season to rank tied for fifth in the country.
- The pair's also a staple on the Black Knights' penalty kill unit which has a .878 efficiency and is sixth in college hockey.
