Army Had Strong Showing at Penn State
January 27, 2018 | Men's Track and Field
WEST POINT, NY – The Army West Point men's track and field team had a strong showing at the Penn State National Invitational.Â
Â
Coach's QuotesÂ
"It was a pretty good weekend for our men's team," said head coach Mike Smith. "I was especially happy to see our middle distance and distance guys get out and compete against some pretty high level competition and hold their own. We had some new lifetime bests and a lot of marks that will be at, or near the top of the Patriot League lists."Â
"Keagan Smith continues to impress me. He is a great competitor and showed that today in the men's mile. In the field I thought Bernard Jenkins had a nice breakthrough in the high jump, and the men in the weight throw were pretty consistent with throws that were right near their lifetime best."
"Our intent was to sharpen up for the dual meet next weekend and I think we accomplished that today. We rested some guys and picked our events carefully here and I think we are set up well for the championship season. The guys are looking forward to the challenge."
