Track and Field Put Together Strong Showing at Quaker Invitational

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Army West Point track and field program put together a strong Saturday of competition at the Quaker Invitational in The Ott Center hosted by Penn.
The Black Knights recorded four first place finishes and 11 total podiums.
Field Events
Hayden Brace picked up a strong second place in the men's long jump at 6.98m, with Caleb Smith finishing just outside of a podium spot in fourth.
The Black Knights had impressive showings in the triple jump event. Bret Wingard set a meet record with a mark of 15.14m. That distance is not only a season-best for him, but ranks 46th in the NCAA this year and 41st in Division I. Kwame Amoo-Otoo finished in second with a distance of 14.38m, a personal best. On the women's side, Erin Allert finished third with a personal best mark of 12.36m. That distance is 60th in the NCAA and 56th in Division I.
In the weight throw, Robby Manse recorded a meet record with a throw of 19.67m to take home first place. Calvin Bowens finished third with a mark of 17.66m. On the women's side, Jordan Hect threw an impressive 15.58m to win the shot put. The distance is a meet record and 31st in Division I. Lydia Oldenkamp finished fourth with a personal best throw of 14.22m.
Track Events
Joshua Duncan (4th) and Trey McGinnis (6th) had strong showings in the men's 200m, as both of their times place among the top 100 in the NCAA this season.
Kasen Jeitz recorded the first track podium of the day for Army in the men's 500m, finishing second with a time of 1:03.74.
The Black Knights swept the top two spots of the men's 800m. Ammon Smith finished first with a blistering time of 1:51.87, while Jack Musgrave finished second with a time of 1:52.28. Both times are top 50 among Division I runners this season. In the women's 800m, Sabrina Sardar (2:10.09) and Lauren Gallagher (2:10.63) finished third and fourth with times that are top 50 in Division I.
In the women's 3000m, Mikayla Cheney took home second place with a time of 9:43.98.
In the relays, the men's 4x400m team posted a strong second place finish with a time of 3:14.97, which is good for 52nd in Division I. The women's relay team finished eighth with a time of 3:52.79.

The Black Knights will split the squad at a pair of meets this upcoming weekend. Army will head to the Penn Elite Invitational on Jan. 22-24 and the Dr. Sander Collegiate Invite (Columbia) on Jan. 23-24.
