Black Knights Fall in Road Meet to Penn

PHILADELPHIA – The Army West Point women's swimming and diving team dropped a non-league dual meet to Penn, 172.5-121.5, on Friday afternoon at Sheerr Pool.

The Black Knights fell to 3-4 following the loss, while Penn improved to 5-5.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES

Army won four events against the Quakers.
Cecelia Croman placed second in the 100 back after hitting the wall at 57.61.
Kara Wineinger won the 100 breast with a time of 1:05.43, before placing second in the 200 breast at 2:24.33.
Bailey Smith's time of 24.31 in the 50 free was good for second.
Josephine Marsh finished second in the 200 back at 2:05.53.
In the 500 free, Sidney Evans led all Army swimmers at 5:07.62, which was good for second.
She would later win the 200 IM at 2:09.03, with Whitney Chang (2:11.99) and Rebecca Morel (2:14.11) following in second and third, respectively.
Serica Hallstead took the top spot on the 1-meter board with a score of 2:55.44.
The Black Knights capped the meet by winning the 200 free relay once Smith, Nneka Pilgrim, Jenna Forrester and Nicole Parry finished at 1:37.36.

"The first stage of our road trip had some bright spots," head coach Mickey Wender said. "We knew that Penn would be formidable and they did not disappoint. The purpose of this trip is to face some adversity and challenge ourselves as the last tune up before the conference meet. Tomorrow is an important day for us and we're looking forward to some great racing."
