Black Knights Return to Tate For Weekend Series

WEST POINT, N.Y. – For the first time in 2018, the Army West Point hockey team will play at Tate Rink for a weekend series against Bentley.

- The Black Knights last played on home ice on Dec. 2 when they defeated #17 Colgate, 3-1.
- Army is in search of four points on the weekend which would come from a sweep over the Falcons.
- The Black Knights are currently tied with Robert Morris and RIT in Atlantic Hockey standings with 15 points apiece.
- The games are two of the Cadets' four at home in January.
- Army will take a break from league action next weekend when it renews its rivalry with the Royal Military College of Canada on Jan. 20 in Kingston, Ontario.

- Bentley enters the weekend after going 6-1-1 in its last eight games.
- In the stretch, the Falcons swept Robert Morris (3-1, 6-3) and topped UMass Lowell (3-2), AIC (6-2), Brown (3-1) and Dartmouth (5-1).
- Bentley most recently tied and lost to Northeastern by scores of 3-3 and 6-1. Bentley ranks first on the power play in Atlantic Hockey (.256).
- Kyle Schmidt averages .580 power play points per game to lead the league and a total of six power play goals.
- Tanner Jago is currently tied with Dalton MacAfee of Army in defensemen scoring at .710 points per game.
- In net, Jayson Argue is tied with Cadet Cole Bruns for third in save percentage (.917).
- Argue's goals against average of 2.80 ranks him seventh in the league.
LAST TIME OUT
- After trailing Sacred Heart, 3-2, in the third period, the Black Knights netted a tying goal to force overtime for the fourth time this season.
- Thanks to the final goal by Michael Wilson on the power play, Army picked up a point in Atlantic Hockey standings with the tie.
- Wilson and Dominic Franco led the squad with a goal and an assist each on the night.
- The Black Knights saw success on both power play units with Zach Evancho also scoring on the man-advantage.
- It was the third time this season that Army netted multiple power play goals in one game.
Dempsey difference
- Rookie net-minder Jared Dempsey has taken over the crease for the Black Knights while Cole Bruns is out of the lineup, performing admirably in his first collegiate action.
- The Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich., native has seen action in seven games while earning the starting nod in six of those contests.
- His collegiate debut came in the first meeting against Sacred Heart when he stopped all 15 shots faced in 32:14 minutes of action.
- In Dempsey's 395 minutes be-tween the pipes, he has posted a 2.58 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage.
- Despite owning a 2-3-2 record, Dempsey's minutes have come against quality opponents such as No. 17 Colgate, No. 13 UNH and two starts at No. 10 Minnesota.
POWER PLAY PROWESS
- Last weekend, the Black Knights saw offensive production from both power play units with Wilson and Evancho scoring.
- Wilson leads the team in power play goals this season with five and Evancho follows with two.
- Also contributing heavily on the man-advantage is Alex Wilkinson, who averages 0.48 power play points per game tying him fourth in the league.
