Army Downs Lehigh; Improves Streak to Eight

BETHLAHEM, Pa. – The Army West Point men's tennis team completed its regular season road slate with a 4-1 victory over Lehigh on Sunday.

The Black Knights improved to 18-8 overall and 6-0 in conference play after the match. The Mountain Hawks dropped to 5-11 and 3-2, respectively. The Cadets extended their winning streak to eight matches.

Michael Nguyen and Grant Riechmann kicked off the momentum taking the top spot in the doubles action. Nguyen later went on to secure a victory at the No. 1 singles flight in straight sets. Captain Sam Lampman and partner Gregory Shannon collected the second doubles victory and Lampman also secured a singles point in the No. 2 flight.

The first-year duo of Myles Conlin and Nikita Pereverzin dominated in a 6-1 victory at the No. 3 doubles flight. David Mitchell secured the match with a straight set, 6-2, 6-2, victory at the No. 4 position.

UP NEXT:
The Black Knights face-off against their rival Navy at 1 p.m., as part of the Star Series, presented by USAA, next Saturday at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center (indoor) or the Malek Courts (outdoor). The teams will make the decision based on weather conditions on the day of the match.
