Army Hosts Binghamton and Quinnipiac

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's tennis team will take a break from league play this weekend as they host Quinnipiac and Binghamton on Sunday.
The Black Knights face off against Binghamton at 10 a.m., before taking on Quinnipiac at 4 p.m. Army enter the weekend with an overall record of 14-8 and 4-0 in Patriot League play.

LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, the Cadets started conference play strong, not giving up a point all weekend. Against Holy Cross the Black Knights won the doubles point with a 3-0 sweep. Michael Nguyen and Grant Riechmann had a 6-3 victory at No. 1, David Mitchell and Michael Sienko had a 6-0 win at No. 2 and Grant Patterson and Daniel Zheng finished the scoring going 6-4 at the No. 3 flight. In singles, it was the one, three, five guys that stepped up with Nguyen winning 6-0, 6-1, Anant Mundra going 6-1, 6-0 and Patterson securing a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
Army continued to have the hot hand later that evening securing another 4-0 victory, this time over Loyola. Sam Lampman and Gregory Shannon kicked off the scoring in doubles with a 6-3 win at No. 1. Nikita Pereverzin and Myles Conlin added another going 6-4 at the No. 2 flight and David Mitchell and Michael Sienko round out scoring with a 6-2 victory. In singles Nguyen captured a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 followed by Lampman with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2. Pereverzin closed the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win.
After taking a day break, the Black Knights came back fresh and brought down Bucknell 4-0. At the No. one, two and three doubles spots Nguyen/ Riechmann (6-4), Lampman/ Shannon (6-3) and Sienko/ Mitchell (6-3) got the sweep and gave Army the point. In singles Lampman started off the scoring 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 2 flight. Conlin scratched a 7-5, 7-5 victory at the No. 5 flight and Pereverzin tallied 6-4, 6-0 to finish the scoring.
In the final match of the weekend, the Cadets brought down Lafayette 5-0 to finish the perfect weekend. Pereverzin and Conlin started the doubles round with a 7-6 win. Followed by Mitchell/ Sienko's 6-1 win and Zheng/ Patterson's 6-2 victory. Riechmann kicked off the scoring at the No. 1 singles flight with a 6-4, 6-1 win, Sienko defeated their No. 3 player 6-1, 6-0, and Mundra scored at the No. 4 flight 6-1, 6-1. Shannon closed the weekend with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
SCOUTING BINGHAMTON (4-10, 0-2 MAC)
Last weekend, the Bearcats hosted MAC foes the Buffalo and Northern Illinois. Binghamton fell to Buffalo 6-1 with their lone point coming at No. 1 singles. Ludovico Cestarollo racked up a singles point going 6-7, 6-4, 10-4. Against the Huskies the Bearcats picked up a 4-3 loss. Their points came from Cestarollo (6-1, 6-4), Kushaan Nath (6-1, 1-6, 6-1) and Thomas Caputo (6-0, 6-4) at the first, third and fifth flights, respectfully.
SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC (8-5, 3-0 MAAC)
The Bobcats had a mid-week matchup against Sacred Heart where they picked up a 5-2 victory. Quinnipiac started scoring by taking the doubles point with victories at all three flights. In singles the Bobcats won with Kei Ezaka (61, 7-6) at No. 1, Freddie Zaretsky (7-6 (1), 6-1) at No. 2 and Julian Rozenstein (6-1, 6-0) at the No. 3 flight. Axel Stern sealed the victory with a 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 5 spot.
UP NEXT: The Black Knights jump back into Patriot League play as they travel to Bethlehem, Pa., to face Boston and Lehigh.
