Army Begins League Play With Busy Weekend

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's tennis team begins Patriot League play this weekend with a trio of matches against Holy Cross and Loyola on Friday and Lafayette on Saturday.
Friday's matches are scheduled to begin at 3:30 and 7:30 p.m., respectively, while Saturday's tilt is slated for 1 p.m.
ARMY (11-5 0-0 Patriot League)
• The Black Knights are currently on a four-match winning streak after topping St. Bonaventure, Southeastern Louisiana, Quinnipiac and Marist.
• Eight of Army's 11 wins this season have been shutouts.
• Sophomore Kirby Einck leads the team with 14 singles victories, while junior Bridget Guenard sports a team-best 7-3 record in duals.
• Einck also has the most overall wins on the team with 28.
• Doubles play for the Black Knights has been powered by senior co-captain Allyson Hayley and sophomore Melanie Allen who have compiled a 5-2 record in the top flight.
HOLY CROSS (0-7, 0-1 Patriot League)
• Army is 22-2 in the all-time series against the Crusaders and have won the last 22 matches dating back to 1990.
• The last time Holy Cross defeated Army was in the fall of 1988 by the score of 6-3.
• The Crusaders' last win came on April 21 of last season in the first round of the Patriot League Tournament with a 4-2 victory over Lafayette.
LOYOLA (3-1, 0-0 Patriot League)
• The Black Knights own a 2-0 record in the all-time series against the Grey Hounds.
• Loyola opened the spring with three wins over St. Bonaventure (4-3), St. Francis Brooklyn (7-0) and St. Peter's (6-1).
• In their last match, the Grey Hounds dropped a 5-2 decision to Hofstra.
LAFAYETTE (4-5, 0-0 Patriot League)
• Army is 21-10 in the all-time series versus Lafayette, dating back to the fall of 1983.
• The Black Knights are currently on a 19-match winning streak against the Leopards that began in 1997.
• Lafayette is currently on a two-match winning streak after defeating Rider, 6-1, and Saint Peter's, 5-2.
• The Leopards have a match against Siena on Thursday before venturing up to West Point for the weekend.
