Army Kicks Off Patriot League Play at Home

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's tennis team is scheduled to host Holy Cross, Loyola, Lafayette and Bucknell this weekend to kick off Patriot League play.
On Friday, Army will square off against Holy Cross at 1:30 p.m., before facing Loyola at 5:30 p.m. After a day of rest, the Cadets will take on Bucknell on Sunday at 9 a.m., followed by a match up with Lafayette at 3 p.m.
The Black Knights enter the weekend with an overall record of 10-8.
LAST TIME OUT
The Cadets fell to UC Santa Clara by a score of 6-1. Army's lone point of the match came from junior Michael Nguyen in the No. 1 flight of the singles where he tallied scores of 6-4 and 6-4.
SCOUTING HOLY CROSS (1-7, 0-0 PL)
The Crusaders have been on a month break with their only spring competition coming on Feb. 25, in which they fell to Sacred Heart, 7-0.
SCOUTING LOYOLA (3-3, 0-0 PL)
In their last outing, the Greyhounds dropped a 4-3 decision to Delawar. Loyola started the scoring by winning all three doubles matches by scores of 6-2. They also picked up a point at the No. 3 singles with a line of 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (5). The final point for Loyola came at the No. 4 singles flight where Tyler Blessing had a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
SCOUTING BUCKNELL (5-13, 0-0 PL)
In a mid-week matchup against Mount St. Mary's the Bison collected a 4-3 victory. All of Bucknell's points came from singles matches. The scoring started with the Bison securing the first three flights from the No. 2 (6-2, 6-0) the No. 3 (6-1, 6-4) and the No. 4 positions (6-3, 6-1). Bucknell then secured the win with a 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 win at the No. 6 flight.
SCOUTING LAFAYETTE (5-6, 0-0 PL)
Lafayette is coming off of a two week break to start Patriot League play. In early March, they chalked up a 4-3 victory over Saint Peter's. The Leopards started the scoring by picking up the doubles points from their No. 2 and 3 flights. In singles, Lafayette captured a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the No.1 spot, a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) win at the No. 4 flight and a 6-2, 6-1 sweep at the No. 5 slot.
