WEST POINT, N.Y. - The No. 8/10 Army West Point men's lacrosse team got hat tricks from David Symmes, Nate Jones and Ted Glesener to defeat NJIT, 19-6, on Monday afternoon at Michie Stadium.

Army (6-1) won its fifth game in a row and is 4-1 against non-conference opponents so far this season. Jones finished with four points total, while Cole Johnson and Conor Glancy also had four points on the day.

Dan Grabher was dominant in faceoffs, winning 15-of-16 draws and picking up 13 ground balls in the win. He also added two points in the win with a goal and an assist. Army was 2-for-3 on its man-up situations with goals from Avery Littlejohn and Glesener on the chances.

NJIT (0-7) got two goals from Ryan Callaghan and Ryan Dorrow, while Aaron Forster and Cole Robillard posted two-point games with a goal and an assist each. Cameron Cronk stopped 13 shots in the loss.

HIGHLIGHTS AND NOTES

The Black Knights and NJIT have met twice and Army has won both meeetings.
Army has won five games in a row for the second straight season.
The Black Knights jumped to No. 8 in the USILA Coaches Poll and No. 11 in the Maverik Media Poll, both of which were announced on Monday.
Army is now 3-0 this season at Michie Stadium with four regular season games left on the schedule.
This was the Black Knights second game of the year on a Monday and is 2-0 with wins over NJIT and VMI.
This was the first time scene beating Holy Cross in 2015 that Army had three players with hat tricks in a single game.
Glesener recorded his first hat trick since the home game against Navy last year on April 16.
Symmes set a career high with the hat trick and added a career best five points in the win. He now has 18 points on the year, which is a best in an Army uniform.
Jones tallied four points and now had 18 on the season, which is tied with Symmes for second on the team.
Johnson had four points on a goal and three helpers before leaving the game late with an injury. He has 20 points on the year and is tied for 12th on the all-time career assists list with 64.
He has 157 career points as he remains 12th on the all-time points list.
Miles Silva recorded his first collegiate goal and ended up with a multi-goal game in the fourth quarter.
Littlejohn had his first multi-goal game since the game at Jacksonville on Feb. 15, 2015.
Army held an opponent to six or less goals for the fifth time this season and scored in double digits for fifth time this year as well.

TURNING POINT

Army jumped out to an 8-1 lead with 5:15 left in the second quarter on Johnson's 13th goal of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Black Knights jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first quarter with a pair of goals from Jones, along with goals from Symmes and Glesener.
The run continued into the second frame with four-straight from the Black Knights. Glesener and Littlejohn made it a 6-1 game and then Grabher got on the board with his fourth, then Johnson increased the lead to 8-1 with 5:15 left on the clock before the half.
Callaghan got one back for the Highlanders with the first of his two on the day, but Conor Glancy finished off the scoring in the opening with his fifth of the year coming with 0.4 on the clock.
Army built up its lead in the third quarter by outscoring the Highlanders 8-2.
Tommy Marino highlighted the quarter with a pair of goals, while Glesener, Symmes and Jones all finished their hat tricks in the frame.
Silva scored the final two goals of the game for the Black Knights with his first collegiate goal coming with 10:52 left and Sean O'Brien was given the assist for his first collegiate point.
Robillard and Darrow ended the scoring with back-to-back goals for NJIT as Army won its fifth in a row by a 19-4 score.
