Army Set for Senior Day Tri-Meet

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point gymnastics team is set for a senior day tri-meet Saturday at 1 p.m. as the Cadets host Springfield and William & Mary. The Black Knights will honor firsties Leo Genders and Joe Pritts prior to the meet along with three-year team manager Brian Abbado.

Army and Springfield go head-to-head for the 85th time Saturday. The Black Knights hold a 67-17 advantage over the Pride and have won the last eight meetings.

The Cadets and Pride faced each other once already this season at the West Point Open. Army placed third, while Springfield finished sixth with 390.550 points.

This Saturday will mark the 23rd meeting in the all-time series between the Black Knights and William & Mary. The series is currently tied at 11-11-1 with Army coming away with the last three victories.

The Tribe placed second at the Navy Open (390.60) to start the season and then was first at the New England Championships hosted by Springfield (395.80). William & Mary also competed at the University of Illinois where the team was first (394.70). It will be the first head-to-head contest of 2017 for the Tribe.

The Black Knights have seen most of their success on the vault and high bar apparatuses this season. Army is undefeated on vault this season with best scores against Penn State, Air Force and Navy.

Ryan Wilson has excelled in the event and has not scored under a 14.100 with his highest mark at 14.700. Genders and Nathan Goff boast season-highs of 14.600 and 14.500 on high bar, respectively.
