Black Knights Finish Second In Tri-Meet

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point gymnastics team held a slight lead over William & Mary heading into the final two events, but the Tribe pulled ahead after high bar, then clinched the win on vault to deny the Black Knights on Senior Day.
William & Mary swept the three-team field with a 390.40, Army was second (383.5) followed by Springfield College (380.15), all members of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
Seniors Leo Genders and Joe Pritts led the Black Knights in their final home meet of the season Saturday at Gross Sports Center. Genders was a double champion for Army capturing high bar (13.85) and vault (14.15) with Pritts claiming top honors on floor exercise with a 14.25.
Junior Nathan Goff was second on high bar (13.5) in Army's sweep of the top two places in that event, was third on parallel bars (13.2) and fourth on still rings (12.7). Erik Del Cid's third place finish on vault (13.95) rounded out the Black Knights top point producers.
Opening with floor exercise, the Black Knights' turned in a team best 68.05 to claim honors in that event, but the Tribe captured the final five events with Army finish second on vault (67.8) and high bar (63.80).
Pritts (14.25), Seth Cannon (13.9), Genders (13.75) and Goff (13.70) all set season bests in floor exercise as Army claimed four of the top six scorers.
