Army Moves Up to Second After Day Three

DAY 3 RESULTS
LEWISBURG, Pa. - Kelly Hamilton won the 100 backstroke to lead the Army West Point women's swimming and diving team on the third day of competition at the Patriot League Championships at Bucknell.
The Black Knights jumped up to second in the rankings with a total of 401.5 points. Navy leads the way with 602 points overall and Boston University has 396 heading into the final day of the championships.

THIRD DAY HIGHLIGHTS
- The Black Knights got a huge lift in the prelims as Hamilton continued her great swimming in the 100 back with a time of 53.69 seconds. She swam a fast time in the preliminaries and didn't let up in the finals.
- The performance came after setting the Patriot League Championship record on day two in the 400 medley relay. She swam the opening leg of the race in a time of 53.23 seconds to claim the record.
- The morning swim did not affect her in the evening as she took home the title in the event, shaving more time off her previous record at 53.58 seconds.
- The third night of the championships got off to a great start with Bridget Ritter breaking the school record in the 400 individual medley, coming from behind for a first-place finish at 4:17.82.
- Monica Sowinski made the finals in the 200 free and ended up sixth with a time of 1:49.79.
- Kara Wineinger swam to a fourth-place finish in the 100 breast, clocking in at 1:03.28, while Jess Ambrose took home sixth at 1:03.81.
- In the final event of the night, the foursome of Hamilton, Nneka Pilgrim, Jenna Forrester and Bailey Smith clocked in at 1:32.42 in the 200 free relay for second place and just missed the academy record by .01 second.
- Serica Hallstead made the 1-meter dive finals on Friday night and finished with a score of 257.10.
UP NEXT
- The championships are back on tomorrow with the prelims in multiple events beginning at 10 a.m., while the finals will take place at 6 p.m.
