Women’s Basketball Travels to Navy for Star Game

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's basketball team takes its five-game winning streak to Annapolis, Md., for the annual Star Game versus Navy on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 11 a.m. The contest will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.

STORYLINES
Army and Navy meet for the 68th time on Saturday, with the Black Knights owning a 34-33 lead in the rivalry.
Sophomore Madison Hovren has been Army's most consistent offensive threat this season, but the Black Knights have had more-balanced scoring of late. At least three Army players have scored in double figures in all of its games during its current five-game winning streak, with Hovren reaching double digits in all five, and juniors Daizjah Morris and Aliyah Murray reached double digits in three of those five outings.
Daizjah Morris is averaging 10.4 points per game in the last five contests, after averaging 4.7 points per game in the previous 20.
Murray paces Army with 7.7 points per game and 8.3 rebounds per game in three career outings versus Navy.
THE ARMY-NAVY SERIES
Army controls a 34-33 advantage in its all-time series versus Navy. The rivalry began at the Dartmouth-Burger King Invite on Jan. 18, 1981, with the Cadets earning a 65-48 victory.
ARMY (19-6, 10-4 PATRIOT LEAGUE)
• Hovren posted her 14th double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 rebounds in a 60-41 win over Holy Cross on Wednesday.
• Murray finished one rebound shy of a double-double, with 12 points and nine rebounds, and classmate Janae McNeal totaled 12 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals.
• Army limited Holy Cross to just four points in the second quarter of Wednesday night's game for the lowest single-quarter scoring output by an Army opponent this season.
• Army forced 20 Holy Cross turnovers and five Cadets registered at least two steals, including Hovren (3, McNeal (3), Murray (2), Daizjah Morris (2), and junior Lena' Hicks (2).
NAVY (19-6, 12-2 PATRIOT LEAGUE)
• Navy outscored Lehigh, 69-37, during the final three quarters in a 79-44 home victory over the Mountain Hawks on Wednesday.
• Laurel Jaunick paced the Mids with 15 points and Hannah Fenske added 10 more.
• With its win over Lehigh, Navy improved to 12-2 in the Patriot League and remains in a tie for first place with Bucknell.
UP NEXT
Army plays its final regular-season road game of the season on Wednesday, Feb. 22, when it faces Boston University at 7 p.m.
