Black Knights Continue Road Trip at Niagara

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point hockey team will continue its road tour with a two-game series at Niagara. It will surely be a battle in Buffalo as the Black Knights returned to the top of the Atlantic Hockey leaderboard with 10 points, while the Purple Eagles are second with nine.

ARMY (5-3-0, 5-3-0 Atlantic Hockey)
- Army has seen success in recent years against Niagara and is now on a four-game winning streak after earning a series sweep last February.
- Army currently boasts a 5-1-0 record on the road, which is the best in college hockey with no other team has earning five road wins so far this season.
- The Black Knights' current roster produced 26 points in last year's two games at Tate Rink.
- Tyler Pham notched three goals in two games and added an assist.
- Conor Andrle netted two goals of his own, including the team's overtime winner along with three assists.
- Brendan Soucie also had multiple goals on the weekend with two and a helper.
- Taylor Maruya dished out three assists in Friday night's win and added another on Saturday.
NIAGARA (5-2-1, 4-0-1 Atlantic Hockey)
- The Purple Eagles are another Atlantic Hockey team that received votes in this week's USCHO.com Poll with six.
- After an injury ridden season last year, Niagara is back to full force and is second in the league just behind the Black Knights.
- Last weekend, the Purple Eagles and Bentley skated to a 3-3 OT draw before Niagara came out on top 4-3 Saturday.
- Derian Plouffe and Noah Delmas have both tallied 11 points on the season. Plouffe has five goals and six assists, while Delmas boasts 10 assists.
- Tanner Lomsnes tops the team in goals with seven and also adds three helpers.
- Brian Wilson has been starting in net for Niagara in the last few games with a 2.38 goals against average and a .905 save percentage.
THE FRONT LINE
- The Black Knights' top line this season of Pham, Wilson and Franco have combined for 46 percent of Army's offensive production.
- Dominic Franco and Michael Wilson lead the team with 10 points apiece. Wilson has scored six goals, while Franco has produced seven assists.
- Pham continues to be an all-around solid player with three goals and five assists.
- The defensive pair of Dalton MacAfee and Alex Wilkinson have 14 points between them.
GOALIE OF THE WEEK
- Senior goaltender Bruns captured Atlantic Hockey Goalie of the Week honors for the second time this season after Army's sweep at No. 19 Air Force.
- Bruns posted 57 saves on the weekend, while just allowing two goals on the road.
- In Saturday night's 2-0 victory, he posted the second shutout of his career and even assisted on Army's final goal of the game.
- Nationally, Bruns ranks eighth among goalies with a .935 save percentage and 16th with a 2.03 goals against average.
NATIONAL RECOGNITION
- The Black Knights regained national attention this week after their sweep of the 19th ranked Falcons.
- The Army hockey team received 17 votes in this week's USCHO.com National Poll along with a nod in the USA Today / USA Hockey Magazine National Poll.
- It is the third time this season that Army appears in the USCHO.com Poll and second in the USA Today / USA Hockey Magazine National Poll.
