Army Draws Even with Crusaders on Senior Day

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's soccer team played to a scoreless double-overtime draw in a Patriot League matchup with Holy Cross on Sunday afternoon at a rain-soaked Malek Stadium.
Army and Holy Cross each picked up a point in the Patriot League with the draw. The Black Knights moved to 2-4-2 in league action, while the Crusaders moved to 3-3-2 in the conference.
The Cadets worked tirelessly on the offensive end, trying to generate scoring chances, but could not muster up a goal. At the end of the contest, Army led in shots, 15-10, and in corners, 14-2.

- Seniors Okheem Riley, Denys Villatoro, Christian Nolasco, Shaban Abousaud and Marcos Arroyo were all honored prior to the start of the game during the senior day ceremony.
- Army is now 1-0-2 in double-overtime games this season.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Justin Stoll posted his eighth shutout of the year.
- Stoll's eight shutouts are tied for the fourth-most by an Army goalkeeper in a single season.
- The Cadets outshot their opponent for the 15th time this season.
- The 14 corners taken was the most by the Black Knights this season and the third time that they eclipsed the double-digit mark.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two sides combined to place three shots on goal in the opening 29 minutes, but were held without another one for 36 minutes.
- As the heavy rain picked up in the second half, the conditions became unfavorable for offensive attacks.
- In the first overtime period and up a man after a Holy Cross player received a red card late in the second half, Abousaud got a clean look at the net, but his shot was saved by the Holy Cross keeper. Just over a minute later, the Black Knights saw another scoring opportunity once Rex Epps sent a strike at the goal, but it resulted in similar fashion.
