Junior Destinee Morris made the most of her first career start with a team-leading 16 points in a 53-51 victory over American on Sunday. The Black Knights erased an early 11-point deficit to come back for their first win after trailing by double figures this season.
After going 5-25 versus Holy Cross during the first 30 meetings between the programs, Army has turned the tide to go 21-9 in the last 30 contests, beginning with a 67-58 victory for the Black Knights in Worcester on Feb. 8, 2004.
THE ARMY-HOLY CROSS SERIES
Holy Cross leads Army, 34-26, in a rivalry that dates back to Jan. 23, 1991. The Black Knights take a five-game winning streak in the series into Wednesday's tilt, with their last loss to the Crusaders coming on Feb. 12, 2014. Army's current winning streak in the series began with a 68-58 win in the Patriot League title game on March 15, 2014.
ARMY (13-4, 4-2 PATRIOT LEAGUE)
• Army came back from an early 11-point deficit to mark its largest deficit in a win this season, as it defeated American, 53-51.
• The Black Knights took their first lead of the game with 6:21 left in the second quarter and never looked back, as they led for the remainder of the contest.
• Destinee Morris led all players with 16 points in her first collegiate start, while classmate Aliyah Murray added 11 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore Jess Lewis scored 10 points and grabbed a career-best seven rebounds.
• Army dominated American at the free-throw stripe, as the Black Knights made 22-of-28 attempts (78.6 percent), while the Eagles went 6-of-6 from the line.
HOLY CROSS (4-13, 2-4 PATRIOT LEAGUE)
• Lauren Manis led Holy Cross with 22 points and Infiniti Thomas-Waheed added a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double in a 65-47 home victory against Lehigh on Saturday.
• Manis was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week after averaging 17.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in two wins last week.
• Thomas-Waheed is the team's leader in scoring (13.2 points per game) and assists (2.5 assists per game).
• Holy Cross leads the Patriot League with 4.7 blocks per game. Amy Hasenauer paces the Crusaders with 1.6 blocks per contest.
