Army and Navy meet for the 83rd time on Friday, with the Mids holding a 40-28-14 advantage in the all-time series. Navy leads Army, 2-1-1, in the previous four Army-Navy Cups. The Black Knights defeated the Mids for the first time since 2008 with a 2-1 victory in last season's match.
"From a players' and coaches' standpoint, we look at this game as the first game of league play and a big three points on the table that we have to go get," said head coach Russell Payne. "The fan support for the Army-Navy Cup has been great. The crowd support we get from the West Point folks, in terms of how they've gotten behind the game and pushed it to the level that you've seen the last four years, has been incredible."
