Women's Cross Country Welcomes Class of 2020

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's cross country team announced the addition of nine newcomers in the Class of 2020 on Wednesday.
Head coach Mike Smith begins his third year at the helm of the women's program and has brought in strong class.
"We are excited about the group of women that we have brought in," said Smith. "We needed to fill some holes and I believe that we filled those holes. We are excited about the possibilities these young people bring for us both now and in the future."
Meet the Black Knights
Andrea Karlen | Roanoke, Texas
Karlen comes to West Point from Northwest Nelson High School. She has a personal best time of 2:18.00 in the 800-meter run, 5:20.60 in the 1,600 meters and 11:20.20 in the 3,200 meters.
Payton Boylston | Ames, Iowa
Boylston joins West Point after a year at the USMA Prep School. Originally from Ames High School, she has a personal best time of 4:56.89 in the 1,500-meter run and 10:31.21 in the 3,000 meters.
Sam Coletti | Whitman, Mass.
Coletti joins West Point from Whitman-Hanson High School where she was the 2016 Massachusetts Eastern Division 2 Champion in the 3,200-meter run. She has personal best times of 1:35.43 in the 600 meter-run, 2:13.20 in the 800 meters, 2:54.39 in the 1,000 meters, 5:01.00 in the Mile and 10:58.89 in the 3,200-meter run.
Hannah Deines | St. Charles, Mo.
Deines comes to West Point from Villa Duchesne High School where she took 5th place in the 800-meter run at the 2016 Missouri State Track and Field Championships. Deines has personal bests of 2:15.34 in the 800 meters and 5:07.37 in the 1,600-meter run.
Kajol Maheshwari | Livermore, Calif.
Maheshwari joins West Point from Livermore High School. She has a personal best time of 5:05.17 in the 1,600-meter run.
Donia Nichols | Arlington, Va.
Nichols joins the Black Knights from Washington-Lee High School, after spending a year at Civil Prep school. She has a personal best of 5:10.54 in the 1,600 meter and 11:28.96 in the 3,200-meter run.
Bethany Nunnery | Kingstown, R.I.
Nunnery joins the Black Knights from North Kingstown High School. Nunnery was the Rhode Island 3,000-meter run state champion, while also finishing fourth at the 2016 New England Indoor Championships in the 2 mile. She has personal bests of 4:46.40 in the 1,500 meters, 10:55.56 in the 2 Mile, 10:00.55 in the 3,000 meters and 18:47.75 in the 5,000-meter run.
Kate Sanborn | Fayetteville, N.C
Sanborn comes to West Point from Jack Britt High School. She captured a sixth-place finish at the 2016 NCHSAA 4A State Championship in the 1,600-meter run. She also has personal bests of 2:16.74 in the 800 meters, 3:03.28 in the 1,000 meters and 5:06.14 in the 1,600-meter run.
Ramsey Wagner | Gulfport, Miss.
Wagner comes from Saint Patrick's High School, where she was a 10-time MHSAA 3A State Champion (800 meters, 1,600-meter run, 3,200 meter run, and cross country).
"Today's announcement welcoming the Army West Point class of 2020 is the culmination of two years of hard work by our coaches, support staff and administration" Coach Smith. "This signifies a start to what we expect to be a very bright future. These young women will improve our depth, our athleticism and our competitive outlook. Now it is time to get to work."
The Black Knights kick off the 2016 season at a dual meet against the Black Bears of Maine on Sept. 2, in Orono, Maine.
