Halbrook Qualifies for 1,500 Meter Final at ECAC’s

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Army West Point women's track and field team was highlighted by freshman Abby Halbrook on Saturday at the ECAC/IC4A Championships at Princeton. Halbrook was the last qualifier in the preliminaries of the 1,500 Meter Run with a time of 4:33.21 to advance to the finals tomorrow.

"This meet is a step up in competition for our people and I thought that our people rose to the challenge for the most part," said Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Mike Smith. "Abby had to work pretty hard to grab that last qualifying spot. She did what she always does; puts herself in the race and runs to her potential."

Cassie Mundekis added a 13th place finish in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:11.46. She was the highest-placing freshman in the group and missed out on qualifying for the finals by less than a second.

Halbrook is scheduled to run in the finals at 12:25 p.m. tomorrow.
