WEST POINT, N.Y. – After a mid-week sweep over non-conference foe Yale, the Army West Point softball team will travel to Lewisburg, Pa., this weekend for a three-game Patriot League series with Bucknell. The Black Knights and Bison will square-off April 10-11 with the first game of the weekend beginning at 12 p.m. The games were moved from Saturday and Sunday to Sunday and Monday due to projected snow in the Lewisburg, Pa., area.
Â
With the team's victory in game one over Yale, head coach Michelle DePolo reached the 200 career win milestone. Now in her seventh year as the Black Knights' head coach, DePolo achieves this milestone the quickest in Army softball history and boasts a career record of 201-160.
Â
In game one against the bulldogs, Caroline Smith pitched five strikeouts in game one and helped her own cause by notching a two-run homer in the second inning. Kasey McCravey followed with a home run that sailed over the scoreboard in the same inning.
Â
During the nightcap which pushed Army's record to 22-13 overall and 4-1 in the PL, Renee Poirier pitched a perfect game until the sixth inning when Yale broke through to tie the game. The freshman finished with a career-high nine strikeouts and allowed just three hits.
Â
McCravey finished the night with three runs, three hits, including a home run, and three RBI. Alee Rashenskas had two hits and an RBI through the two games for Army, while Mae Wadyka notched an RBI.
Â
