Men’s Tennis Hosts Two Non-Conference Opponents

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's tennis team hits the court for the first time in the month of April as they welcome a pair of opponents on Thursday, April 7. The Black Knights are slated to play Hartford at 3:30 p.m. and then Marist at 5:30 p.m. at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
Army has won seven straight matches and now stand at 12-6 this spring. The Hawks have yet to win in 2016 (0-6) and the Red Foxes are currently 8-3.

LAST TIME OUT
The Cadets cruised to open Patriot League play with a 6-1 win over Lafayette and 7-0 victory against Holy Cross on March 26. It was the 24th straight regular season conference win for Army.
Senior Sam Lampman had a strong day going 2-0 in the top singles flight while also pairing with junior Michael Nguyen for a doubles win against Holy Cross.
SCOUTING HARTFORD
Hartford hasn't been on the court since a 7-0 loss to Bryant on March 20. The Hawks closest match came against Hofstra on March 5 when they narrowly lost 4-3.
SCOUTING MARIST
The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference member is off to a 1-0 start in conference play after defeating Saint Peter's 7-0 on March 22. The Red Foxes have not played since then (over two weeks), but have won seven of their last eight matches.
Rudolf Kurz presents a challenge as Marist's top singles player. The Austrian native is 13-4 this year and sports a 4-2 record in the number one singles flight.
SERIES HISTORY
Army is 2-0 in its brief history against Hartford and 15-5 all-time against its local rival Marist. The Black Knights defeated the Red Foxes 4-2 when they met last season.

Army returns to Patriot League action to face the Mountain Hawks of Lehigh next Friday. Doubles action is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
