Doubleheader with Yale Moved to West Point

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point softball team's doubleheader against Yale on Wednesday, April 6 has been relocated to the Army Softball Complex due to field conditions in New Haven, Conn. The games will begin at 3:00 and 5:00 p.m.

Army went 2-2 last week to improve to 20-13 on the season after splitting doubleheaders with Siena and Colgate. The Black Knights' rubber game with the Raiders was postponed due to the weather in Hamilton, N.Y., on Sunday.

Alee Rashenskas and Kasey McCravey each received Athlete of the Week recognition Monday for their performances last week.

Rashenskas led the team with a .643 batting average after going nine-for-14. She added four RBI, totaled 10 bases, a double and scored three runs. Rashenskas was a perfect four-for-four at the plate in game two against Colgate with two RBI.

McCravey went six-for-14 to record a .429 batting average and a .857 slugging percentage. She had two home runs last week driving in three runs and stealing three bases.

The senior infielder was named a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award after breaking two career records at Army including RBI (140) and home runs (24).

Renee Poirier pitched her first shutout during the team's 5-0 win over Siena last week. She then pitched Army to victory over Colgate in game two. Poirier totaled nine strikeouts on the week and had an ERA of 2.00 through 14 innings in the circle.

Brittany Labbadia, who has a six-game hitting streak, was eight-of-13 (.615) as Yale opened Ivy League play by splitting doubleheaders with Columbia and Penn over the weekend. She also scored three runs and stole three bases. For the season, Labbadia leads the Bulldogs with 27 hits and seven stolen bases and shares the team lead with 11 RBI.

The Bulldogs lead Army 19-11 in the all-time series and the Black Knights last earned a victory over the Ivy League opponent in 2013 when they swept the doubleheader by scores of 10-2 (6 inn.) and 8-0 (5 inn.)
