GAME PROGRAM • Army vs. Marist
Army improved to 30-16 last week and 10-4 in the Patriot League with a doubleheader sweep over Quinnipiac and a three-game series sweep over Holy Cross.
Freshman pitcher Renee Poirier has been named the Army Athletic Association Athlete of the Week after going 2-0 and allowing no earned runs. Poirier was also named the Patriot League's Rookie of the Week for her outstanding performance in the circle.
Poirier did not allow an earned run over 14 innings in a pair of complete-game victories for the Black Knights last week. She allowed four hits and a walk with three strikeouts in a 3-1 victory over Quinnipiac on Wednesday, then tossed a three-hit shutout in Army's 4-0 win in the middle contest of a three-game weekend sweep of Holy Cross. She also held her opponents to a .140 batting average.
It is the first time since the 2013 season that Army has reached 30 wins, and it is the first time since 2013 that the Black Knights have accumulated double-digit conference victories. The Cadets have won five-straight for a season long streak.
McCravey went 9-for-17 with two doubles, a triple, eight RBIs and eight runs scored to help the Black Knights to a perfect 5-0 record last week.
The Cadets and Red Foxes have met twice already this season. Army held off Marist 2-1 in eight innings back in March before faling to the Red Foxes 4-3. Marist enters the games with a 36-8 record overall. The team is on a 13-game winning streak that dates back to April 10th.
