The Black Knights had a multitude of personal-bests at last week's Bucknell Outdoor Classic. Tyler Davis earned Patriot League Honorable Mention for the week after personal-bests and top five performances in the 100 meter (10.70) and 200 meter races (21.97). Fellow sophomore Taylor Andrews was the highest placing runner for the Black Knights, as he took second in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.45.
"Those guys are valuable parts of the team," said Smith on the young performers. "You can add-in Kevin Dyer and Ben Sims. Their making a difference because their first year was an adaption year (for the sophomores). That was the case with Tyler Davis. Tyler has really come on his second year. He has gotten stronger and faster. I think our 4x100 meter relay team is really starting to gel with him, Sims, and Dyer on there. That's a sophomore and two freshmen on a relay team that is tops in our conference and 22nd in the East Region. We're going to line that relay this weekend and see how much better we can get against better competition."
Army earned nine top-20 marks last year at this invitational in the field events. They were led by sophomore Lee Bares, who took first place with an Academy record leap of 5.31 meters in the pole vault.
