Women’s Lacrosse Heads to Bucknell This Weekend

WEST POINT, N.Y. – After closing out its nonleague schedule with a win on March 22, the Army West Point women's lacrosse team is on the road for the first time against a Patriot League opponent, when it faces Bucknell on Saturday, March 26 at 1 p.m.

Army improved to 5-4 on the season after scoring a season-high 20 goals in a 20-8 victory over Howard on March 22 at West Point. Sophomore Rachel Hornick matched her season high with four goals and added an assist to finish with a career-best five points in the win.
Saturday marks Army's second Patriot League contest of the season after it fell in its league opener to Lafayette, 17-4, on March 19.
ARMY WEST POINT (5-4, 0-1 PATRIOT LEAGUE) NOTES
• Hornick was one of seven multi-goal scorers in the win over Howard and was joined by junior Erin Jollota (three goals) and sophomores Amy Johnston and Kiersten Spencer, and freshmen Kelsea Krauss, Amanda Roper and Rachel Treweeke, who all scored twice.
• Freshmen Peyton Fancher, Madison Marko and Brittany Rinaldi all netted one goal against Howard, with Marko and Rinaldi scoring the first of their careers.
• Johnston, who has scored in eight of Army's nine contests, ranks first on the team with 19 goals, 12 assists, 31 points and 34 draw controls. She also stands second in the Patriot League with 3.78 draw controls per game and tied for sixth with 3.44 points per game.
• The Black Knights are 2-1 away from Michie Stadium this season, with wins coming at UMass Lowell and Presbyterian and the only loss coming at Winthrop.
BUCKNELL (6-3, 0-1 PATRIOT LEAGUE) NOTES
• Bucknell was last on the field on March 19, when the Bison fell to a 17-7 defeat at Boston University.
• Senior Emily Becker scored twice in the setback, while sophomore Gretchen Richter registered a goal, an assist and three draw controls.
• Bucknell leads the Patriot League with 13.56 goals per game and has three players with at least 20 goals this season, including Becker (20 goals), junior Maddy Molinari (23) and sophomore Eve Lukowski (21).
• The Bison are 2-2 in Lewisburg, Pa., so far this year, with wins coming against Delaware State and Winthrop and losses coming to Monmouth and Villanova.

Army remains on the road for a mid-week tilt next week, when the Black Knights make the trip north to face Holy Cross on Wednesday, March 30 at 5:35 p.m.
