LAST TIME OUT
The Black Knights opened its spring slate with a 5-2 victory against Binghamton and followed it with 4-3 wins over Sacred Heart and Seton Hall. Carolyn Pitman earned Patriot League Player of the Week honorable mention honors after winning her lone singles match in the top spot and going 3-0 in doubles. Nancy Porter (2-0 singles, 3-0 doubles) and Gabriella Spindler (2-0 singles, 1-0 doubles) each went undefeated in multiple matches to start the season in addition to Pitman.
Army is looking to repeat its start to the 2014 spring season. The Black Knights started that year 7-0 with the first five victories coming against Binghamton, Sacred Heart, Seton Hall, Stony Brook, and Connecticut.
SCOUTING STONY BROOK
The Seawolves had a strong 2015 campaign, winning the America East championship without dropping a match and reaching the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight season. They finished 15-2 on the year but lost two key seniors from last season.
Stony Brook's top returner is sophomore Elizabeth Tsvetkov. The Brooklyn, N.Y., native reached the round of 16 in her draw of the ITA Regionals in the fall before falling in three sets to Cornell's Mariah Cusick, who ultimately finished in the semifinals.
SCOUTING CONNECTICUT
The Huskies, while yet to compete in a dual match, have competed already this spring. They hosted the UConn Invitational last week in which they posted an 11-6 record overall.
Connecticut posted a 13-8 record last spring and, in the fall, sent a program-record six players to the ITA Regionals. Srna Stosljevic was seeded 17th and advanced to the final round of 32. The senior from Serbia has won 20-or-more singles matches in each of the last two years.
SERIES HISTORY
While Army got the better of these two programs back in 2014 en route to a 7-0 season start, UConn and Stony Brook each defeated the Black Knights last season. The Huskies edged Army 4-3 while the Seawolves won 6-1.
NEXT UP: Friday, February 12 vs. St. Bonaventure – 4 p.m.
St. Bonaventure has opened the season 0-3 and meets with Mercyhurst and Colgate this weekend. Last year, the Bonnies went 6-13 including a 5-2 loss to the Black Knights.
