WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's lacrosse squad plays its first away contest of the season this weekend, when it travels to face UMass Lowell on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 1 p.m.

Army picked up its second consecutive victory, and built the program's first winning streak, with a 10-9 win over LIU Brooklyn on Feb. 25. Sophomore Amy Johnston scored her third goal of the game with four seconds remaining to break a 9-9 tie and send the Black Knights to a 2-1 record on the year. Johnston also added four assists, marking the most in a single game by an Army player this season.
Sophomore Rachel Hornick added a team-best four goals in the win over LIU Brooklyn, while freshman Manuela Cortes scored twice and junior Erin Jollota added one marker.
ARMY WEST POINT (2-1, 0-0 PATRIOT LEAGUE) NOTES
• Freshman goalie Kayla Rowley made seven stops in her third start of the year against LIU Brooklyn and improved to 2-1.
• Johnston paces Army with nine goals, five assists, 14 points and 16 draw controls this season, while reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Week Nikki Polhamus ranks second on the team with seven goals and eight points.
• Army led LIU Brooklyn, 9-6, with 5:50 left in the game before the Blackbirds scored three straight during a 2:28 span to tie the game with 13 seconds remaining.
• The Black Knights average 9.0 goals per game this season and allow an average of 10.0 goals per contest, but hold an 8-4 advantage in free-position goal through three games.
UMASS LOWELL (0-2, 0-0 AMERICA EAST) NOTES
• In only its second season at the varsity level, UMass Lowell is off to a 0-2 start in 2016, most recently dropping an 11-10 overtime decision at Manhattan on Feb. 24.
• Freshmen Kristina Keith and Noelle Lambert lead the River Hawks with four goals apiece on the year, while Lambert and junior Kristy Robertson both have six points to lead the squad.
• Sunday's game against Army will mark UMass Lowell's first-ever matchup against a Patriot League opponent.
• Sunday is the 2016 home opener for the River Hawks, who will begin a stretch of three straight at home.
