Men’s Basketball Hosts Lehigh on Senior Day

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's basketball team plays its regular season finale on Saturday afternoon against Lehigh at Christl Arena. The Black Knights will try to win their sixth straight game, while Lehigh comes in with an eight-game winning streak. CBS Sports Network will broadcast the Senior Day matinee to a national television audience.

Army's current winning streak has guaranteed the team a spot in the top six of the Patriot League Tournament and the Black Knights have received a first-round bye. Army can finish anywhere from third through sixth in the final standings, depending on results from around the Patriot League. A win improves Army's chances (56 percent) of a quarterfinal home game and a top-four finish, but it could still host a quarterfinal contest with a loss (12.5 percent). Last time out, Kevin Ferguson's seventh consecutive double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds led the Army West Point men's basketball team to an 80-71 victory over Boston University. Army won its fifth game in a row and secured its program-record 11th road victory of the 2015-16 season. The Black Knights improved to 18-11 overall, including a 9-8 mark in Patriot League play.
Senior Tanner Plomb also recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while classmate Kyle Wilson scored 15 and sophomore Luke Morrison added 11 points in the win. Senior point guard Dylan Cox had eight points, eight rebounds and five assists in the triumph.
Lehigh enters Tuesday's game with a 12-5 Patriot League mark and 14-14 overall record after a convincing 71-54 win at Colgate. The Mountain Hawks have an outside shot at the regular-season title with a win, but cannot finish any lower than second in the final conference standings.
Army has played 20 games with its regular starting lineup of Dylan Cox, Kyle Wilson, Plomb, Larry Toomey and Kevin Ferguson. In those games, Army is 14-6 and averages 82.1 points per game and outscores its opponents by 4.4 points per game thanks to an average of 9.5 threes per game. Cox has a 98-43 assist-to-turnover ratio, Wilson is scoring 17 points per game and Ferguson averages 14.1 points and 10.5 rebounds.
In the nine without its full complement of starters, Army's scoring drops to 71.4 points per game and the Black Knights are making 8.4 threes per game. The Black Knights are 4-5 in those games.
Tanner Plomb is averaging 20.3 points per game this season which leads the Patriot League and ranks 26th in the nation. Kyle Wilson is fourth in the conference with an average of 16.4 points per game.
Together, Wilson and Plomb were the top scoring duo in the Patriot League last year with an average of 33.3 points per game. Wilson was first in scoring in the conference at 17.5 points per game, while Plomb ranked fourth overall with a 15.8 points per game average. Plomb and Wilson are the top scoring duo in the Patriot League in 2015-16 at 36.7 points per game.
In 2015-16, Army is outrebounding its opponents by an average of 3.7 boards per game, which is second in the Patriot League. Ferguson leads the Patriot League and is 32nd in the country in rebounding with 9.8 boards per game. Ferguson is 13th in the nation in offensive rebounds with 3.88 per contest.
Since returning to the starting five at Lafayette, Ferguson leads Army in scoring (20.4) and rebounding (13.9) per game. His seven straight double-doubles has him at 11 for the season, which leads the Patriot League.
NEW VISITOR POLICY AT WEST POINT
Starting Jan. 10, people using a driver's license from the states of Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico or Washington will have to use another approved form of identification in order to enter West Point and all other military installations, due to federal guidelines. If you possess a valid Department of Defense issued identification card, this new requirement does not affect your ability to enter military installations.
Acceptable alternate forms of identification are a U.S. passport, a permanent resident card/Alien Registration Receipt Card (form 1-551), a foreign passport with a temporary I-551 stamp or visa or an employment authorization document that contains a photograph (Form I-766).
