Men’s Swim & Dive Second at League Meet

DAY THREE RESULTS
ANNAPOLIS, MD. – With three days of the Patriot League Championships under its belt, the Army West Point men's swimming and diving team ranks second with 438 points.
"The men overcame some points on Boston University and are in second by a decent margin," said head coach Mickey Wender. "Jason Rodriguez making the podium in the 100 fly and going a lifetime best time was a highlight of the day. All our 100 fly men had great accomplishments today, and we are in a good place and it all comes down to tomorrow. The best is yet to come."
Jay Yang had another standout day for the Black Knights. The freshman broke his own Academy and plebe records in the 400 IM with a time of 3:50.04. Clay Harmon was 10th in the event after touching the wall in 3:58.78.
Army had four men race in the A-Final for the 100 fly. Jason Rodriguez placed third when he clocked an NCAA B-Cut time (47.94) in the final. Sean Regan also had a B-Cut time (48.22) when he finished fifth, and was followed by Brandon McCredie (48.99) and Austin Kong (49.08) who were seventh and eighth, respectively. Josh Sembrano was 11th with a time of 49.10 and Sam Mo was 13th in 49.39.
In the 200 free, Chris Szekely was the Black Knights' top finisher. He was fourth after touching the wall in 1:37.52, an NCAA B-Cut time. Devin McCall placed eighth in with a time of 1:39.38, while Evin Rude was 11th in 1:38.68.
Joseph Daniels clocked an NCAA B-Cut time of 55.07 when he placed sixth in the 100 breast. Nick Treiberg (56.38) and Kong (56.86) finished 10th and 14th, respectively.
The Black Knights then had three cadets race in the 100 back A-Final. Josh Sembrano placed second with a time of 48.59. Earlier in the day, the sophomore clocked an Academy record time of 48.39 in the event. Matt McPheters placed fourth for Army after touching the wall in 49.31, and Michael Stanchi finished seventh in 50.78.
Army finished as the runner-up in the 200 free relay with an Academy record time of 1:20.11 by McCredie, Szekely, Treiberg and Rude.
Jake Davies was the top diver for Army off the 1-meter. Davies placed eighth with 209.45 points, and had a career-high 228.65 during the preliminary round. Edward Emery (183.45) finished in 14th and Joe Frullaney (166.60) in 16th.
Army will be back in action tomorrow for the final day of the Patriot League Championships.
