Softball Makes Golden State Debut

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point softball team will make its debut in the Golden State this week when the Black Knights take on UC Riverside on Thursday then take on Cal Poly, Loyola Marymount, Arkansas and Utah Valley in the esteemed Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic on Friday and Saturday.

The Black Knights will face the Highlanders in a single game series on Feb. 18, in Riverside, Calif., at 5 p.m. (ET). On Friday, Army will go against the Mustangs (9 p.m. (ET)) and Lions (11:30 p.m. (ET)) at the Big League Dream Complex in Cathedral City, Calif.

Army will be back in action on Saturday with a game versus the Razorbacks at 3 p.m. (ET) and one opposite the Wolverines at 8 p.m. (ET), also at the Big League Dream Complex. All games at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic will be streamed for fans by FloSoftball for a small fee.
This is the first time in program history that the Black Knights will face UC Riverside, Cal Poly and Loyola Marymount, whereas Army has faced Arkansas and Utah Valley one time each.

After competing in the Seahawk Softball Bash last weekend, Army is 1-4 on the season. The Cadets earned a 3-1 win over UNC Wilmington in the final game of the tournament with Kristen McPeek leading the team with two RBIs on two hits.

The Black Knights are led by Kasey McCravey this season who boasts a batting average of .389 after she went 7-for-18 last weekend. McPeek leads the team in RBIs with four, while Nena Riccoboni, Gladys Esparza-Gallegos and Alee Rashenskas each recorded a double.

In the field Riccoboni leads Army with 46 putouts, while Rashenskas has 14 putouts and a team-high 21 assists.
