"We look rested, ready and happy," said head coach Mickey Wender. "Our strategy is to do our best this weekend. If we the athletes go their best times this weekend then we know that we are successful. We are as well prepared as we have been in years, I am really happy with the process, consistency and work ethic. We are in a good place."
This season, Army finished with a 10-1 record, which ties the highest number of wins since the 88-89 season when the Black Knights finished at 10-2. It also ties the lowest number of losses in a single season. The last time this was accomplished was in 86-87 when the Black Knights went 11-1.
The men's and women's programs combined for a 20-2 record this season. This is the first time the teams have combined for only two losses since the women's program's inaugural season in 1978-79.
"The championship is a grueling format," said Wender. "The team understands what the preparation is for each of their events and what it takes to get ready. All of our routines have been scripted out, and the cadets are ready."
Last season the Black Knights finished fifth at the Patriot League Championships with 416 points. However, throughout the 2015-16 season, the Cadets have defeated Bucknell, Lehigh, Colgate, American and Lafayette in dual-meets, and they finished ahead of Boston University at an invitational.
The Cadets have set six Academy and five plebe records this season and look to break more at the conference meet.
"We have a talented group," Wender added. "I am really excited about our entire team. Everyone is on the same page and has prepared really well. We are motivated, inspired and ready to go. It should be a fun weekend."
