LAST TIME OUT
The Black Knights saw its match against Stony Brook cancelled last Friday and then had to face Connecticut on Sunday. The Huskies walked away the victor by a score of 6-1. Bridget Guenard was the lone Cadet to win in singles with a 6-3, 1-6, 14-12 win in the fifth singles spot. Rugile Valuniate challenged her opponent in the top singles position before falling 6-1, 4-6, 10-8.
Gabriella Spindler and Nancy Porter tacked on a win in doubles. The duo has won both of their matches this year and Porter is now 4-0 on the year in doubles.
SCOUTING ST. BONAVENTURE
St. Bonaventure has struggled out of the gate with its only success coming against Division II Mercyhurst. During the 2015 spring campaign, the Bonnies posted a 6-13 record and were bounced from the first round of the Atlantic-10 Championships.
SCOUTING MASSACHUSETTS
UMass has won its last two matches after starting the spring 0-3 with all three losses coming away from home. Ruth Crawford and Anna Woosley have been strong in the number two doubles spot, posting a 4-1 record on the year including a 6-4 win against No. 48 Boston College.
SCOUTING VASSAR
The Brewers hail from nearby Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and are a Division III squad. However, they are no stranger to playing Division I opponents. This is the seventh time in the last eight years that Vassar has scheduled a D1 team.
Last season, Vassar went 14-6 overall before losing in the Liberty League Championship to No. 16 Skidmore 5-3.
SERIES HISTORY
The Black Knights played all three of these schools last year and have a good history with each squad. This will be the ninth meeting between Army and St. Bonaventure, a series the Cadets have won each time, including a 5-2 triumph last year.
UMass topped Army 7-0 last season, but the Black Knights hold the advantage historically with a 13-6 record against the Minutemen.
Army topped Vassar 6-1 last season when the two met at West Point. The Black Knights hold a 16-5 edge all-time versus the Brewers
NEXT UP: Friday, February 19 vs. Fairleigh Dickinson – 3 p.m.
Fairleigh Dickinson will begin its season when it travels to take on Army. The Knights struggled last year posting a 2-15 record with both wins coming against Sacred Heart, an opponent the Cadets defeated earlier this year 4-3.
NEW VISITOR POLICY
New policies have been put in place regarding visitors to West Point. People using a driver's license from the states of Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico or Washington will have to use another approved form of identification in order to enter West Point and all other military installations, due to federal guidelines. If you possess a valid Department of Defense issued identification card, this new requirement does not affect your ability to enter military installations.
Acceptable alternate forms of identification are a U.S. passport, a permanent resident card/Alien Registration Receipt Card (form 1-551), a foreign passport with a temporary I-551 stamp or visa or an employment authorization document that contains a photograph (Form I-766).
