Women’s Basketball Set for Road Test at Minnesota

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's basketball team plays its only regular-season game versus a Power Five team when it heads to Minneapolis, Minn., to take on Big Ten-opponent Minnesota for a game on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 9 p.m. ET.

STORYLINES
Thursday's matchup will be the first between Army and Minnesota since the Black Knights began varsity action in 1977-78 and the Golden Gophers' program started in 1971-72.
Sophomore Madison Hovren earned her second consecutive Patriot League Player of the Week honor on Monday and leads the conference with 19.5 points per game and ranks second with 9.4 rebounds per game. Her 4.1 offensive rebounds per game lead the conference.
Army leads the nation in turnover margin (+11.75), ranks third in turnovers forced (26.25) and stands fourth in steals per game (13.9).
Natives of Lino Lakes, Minn., juniors Daizjah Morris and Destinee Morris are set to play in their home state for the first time since competing for Centennial High School in Circle Pines, Minn., located about 20 miles from Minneapolis.

• Army improved its winning streak to six games with an 85-40 win over Wagner on Dec. 5.
• Hovren registered her fourth straight double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
• Junior Janae McNeal netted 12 points for the third game in a row and added seven rebounds, six assists and four steals.
• The Black Knights shot 81.0 percent (17-of-21) from the foul line after hitting 94.7 percent (18-of-19) attempts against St. Francis Brooklyn (12/3).
MINNESOTA (6-3, 0-0 BIG TEN)
• Minnesota comes in winners of two straight, most recently picking up a 69-65 road victory at New Mexico on Dec. 6.
• Gadiva Hubbard scored 18 points to lead four Golden Gophers that scored in double figures, while Carlie Wagner notched a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
• A trio of Minnesota players average over 10.0 points per game this season, including Wagner (20.8), Kenisha Bell (17.0) and Hubbard (15.0).
