Women’s Basketball Hosts Mercy in Nonleague Finale

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's basketball team welcomes Mercy to Christl Arena on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 3 p.m. for its final nonconference game of the regular season.

STORYLINES
Sophomore Madison Hovren earned her third straight Patriot League Player of the Week honor on Monday and leads the conference with 18.9 points per game and 10.2 rebounds per game.
Hovren is one of only three players in the country to average at least 18.5 points per game and 10.0 rebounds per game, along with Northwestern's Nia Coffey (21.1 points per game, 11.5 rebounds per game) and Northern Illinois' Ally Lehman (18.6 points per game, 11.8 rebounds per game).
THE ARMY-MERCY SERIES
Army leads 9-5 in its all-time series against Mercy.
Army and Mercy last met during the 1989-90 season, Army's last at the Division II level. Army and Mercy both competed in the Empire State Conference from 1984-85 to 1989-90 before the Cadets rejoined the Division I ranks with the inception of the Patriot League in 1990-91.
ARMY (8-2, 0-0 PATRIOT LEAGUE)
• Army rebounded from a loss to Minnesota on Dec. 8 with a 61-47 victory at Delaware on Dec. 11.
• Hovren registered her sixth straight double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while junior Destinee Morris added 11 points off the bench.
• Junior tri-captain Aliyah Murray came two points shy of her second double-double of the year, with eight points and a team-high 11 boards.
• The Black Knights trailed 8-2 early, but closed the first quarter on a 21-5 run and led 23-13 at the end of one. Army maintained its lead for the remainder of the game.
MERCY (1-8, 0-4 EAST COAST)
• Mercy fell to a 78-64 defeat against LIU Post on Wednesday in an East Coast Conference contest at Westchester Community College in Valhalla, N.Y.
• Destinee Hall led four double-digit scorers for the Mavericks, with 19 points. Latisha Clark and Monet Keane-Dawes each added 13 points, and Holly Sanders scored 12 points.
• Hall leads Mercy with 10.6 points per game, while starting in four of Mercy's nine games.
• Mercy is a member of the East Coast Conference and competes at the Division II level.
