Balanced Effort Sends Army Past Delaware

NEWARK, Del. – The Army West Point women's basketball team got back on the winning track with a 61-47 victory over Delaware on Sunday afternoon at the Bob Carpenter Center.
Army improves to 8-2 on the year following the win, while Delaware falls to 6-4.
Sophomore Madison Hovren finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds for her sixth straight double-double, while junior Destinee Morris netted 11 points off the bench. Junior Aliyah Murray came two points shy of a double-double, with eight points and 11 rebounds.
Junior Janae McNeal notched eight points, three assists and three steals, and sophomore Jess Lewis totaled seven points.
Nicole Enabosi finished with an 11-point, 13-rebound double-double for Delaware, and Sadé Chatman paced the Blue Hens with 14 points.

- Army owned a 36-22 advantage on points in the paint, and led 19-9 in bench scoring for the game.
KEY MOMENT
- Army trailed 8-2 after the game's first 1:54, but came back, thanks to a 21-5 run that lasted 7:59 and made the score 23-13 at the end of the first quarter. The Black Knights did not trail for the remainder of the afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Delaware raced out to an 8-2 advantage after the opening 1:54, but Army used a 21-5 run during the next 7:59 to take a 23-13 lead by the end of the first quarter.
- Destinee Morris contributed 11 points during the run, including a 2-of-2 showing from deep.
- The Blue Hens held a 5-4 advantage in second-quarter points near the midway mark of the second frame, as the Black Knights led 27-18.
- Murray scored on a lay-in with 5:21 left in the second to give the Black Knights an 11-point lead, 29-18.
- Delaware trimmed its deficit back down to seven points on three separate occasions in the second quarter, doing so for the final time on a lay-up from Chatman with 1:39 left in the half, making the score 35-28.
- McNeal converted a lay-in with 39 seconds remaining in the second quarter to give the Cadets a 37-28 lead that would hold until halftime.
- Army outscored Delaware, 15-7, during the third quarter to boost the lead to 17 points, 52-35.
- Lewis led the Black Knights with five points in the third frame, while Hicks and Hovren each scored four.
- A fast-break lay-in from McNeal boosted Army's lead to 20 points, 61-41, with 3:32 remaining in the fourth quarter, but Delaware scored the game's final six points to cut the final deficit to 14 points.
