Four Reach Double Figures in Win Over FDU

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's basketball team opened Monday's action with a 13-0 lead and never looked back during an 86-58 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson at Christl Arena.
Army builds its winning streak to four games and improves to 5-1, while Fairleigh Dickinson drops to 2-4.
Reigning Patriot League Player of the Week, sophomore Madison Hovren, posted her second straight double-double, with a career-best 23 points and a career-high-tying 13 rebounds, while shooting 7-of-12 from the floor and 9-of-11 at the foul line.
Junior Daizjah Morris finished with a season-high 14 points and classmate Janae McNeal recorded 12 points and five assists. Sophomore Jess Lewis tallied 10 points and five assists.
Courtney Blankenship and Amina Markovic paced Fairleigh Dickinson with 13 points apiece.

- Army moves to 10-4 all-time versus Fairleigh Dickinson.
- The Cadets extended their home winning streak to 20 games after the victory, with their last loss at Christl Arena coming in the Patriot League semifinals against Lehigh on March 9, 2015.
- Army also improved its regular-season home winning streak to 24 games, with the Black Knights' last regular-season home defeat coming against Navy on Jan. 10, 2015.
- The Black Knights scored 27 points in the first quarter to mark their most in a single period this season, topping the previous best of 26 points in the third quarter of the Air Force game.
- Hovren (23 points), Daizjah Morris (14), McNeal (12) and Lewis (10) all scored in double figures to mark the most Cadets to do so since Feb. 17, 2016 at Holy Cross.
- Army registered season highs in a number of categories to include points (86), rebounds (36) and assists (18).
- Army's 86 points are its most since scoring 89 in the Patriot League quarterfinals against Colgate on March 7, 2016.
- Freshman Libby Tacka posted a season high with three points.
- Freshman Julia Gibbs grabbed a pair of boards for the first rebounds of her career.
KEY MOMENT
- Army set the tone early, racing out to a 13-0 lead after the first 2:58 of the contest before finishing the period with a season-best 27 points in the quarter. The Black Knights' defense also limited Fairleigh Dickinson early, as it forced nine turnovers and came away with four steals in the first quarter alone.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Army scored the game's first 13 points during the opening 2:58 before extending its lead to 15 points, 17-2, with 6:11 left in the first quarter.
- Hovren netted 13 of Army's first 17 points, shooting a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor and 3-of-3 from the foul line during the opening stretch.
- Fairleigh Dickinson came back to within 15, 25-10, late in the opening frame, but Lewis hit a jumper with four ticks left to make the score 27-10 at the end of one.
- Brianna Thomas scored seven points for Fairleigh Dickinson in the second quarter, as the Knights trailed 50-27 at the break. Destinee Morris led the Cadets in the second quarter, scoring all seven of her points in the period.
- Daizjah Morris netted seven points during a 13-4 Black Knight run to open the third quarter, as Army extended its lead to 32, 63-31, with 5:44 on the clock.
- Army built the lead to as many as 34 in the third period before entering the final quarter with a 32-point advantage, 75-43
- The Black Knights unloaded their bench in the final period, as the visitors outscored them, 15-11, in the fourth.
