Women’s Basketball Opens Home Slate Against Yale

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's basketball team plays at Christl Arena for the first time in the 2016-17 season, when the Black Knights host Yale on Friday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m.

Army and Yale will meet for the second straight year after the Cadets came away with a 65-61 win in New Haven, Conn., on Dec. 3, 2015.
Early trends indicate a strong defensive presence for the Black Knights, after forcing 32 turnovers at LIU Brooklyn (11/12) and 29 more at UAlbany (11/16). The most turnovers by an Army opponent last season was 27 against Boston University on March 2, 2016.
Eleventh-year head coach Dave Magarity enters the Yale game just one win shy of reaching 200 victories as Army's coach, with a record of 199-109.
THE ARMY-YALE SERIES
Army owns a 10-9 advantage in a series against Yale that dates back to the Black Knights' first year as a varsity program in 1977-78. The Cadets took a 65-61 win over the Bulldogs in last year's contest in New Haven, Conn. Junior Janae McNeal scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds in the victory.
ARMY (1-1, 0-0 PATRIOT LEAGUE)
• Army took its first setback of the year, falling on the road to Albany, 65-59.
• Sophomore Madison Hovren once again led the Black Knights, with a game-high 19 pts.
• Junior Aliyah Murray posted the second double-double of her career, with a career-best 16 pts and 11 rebs.
• The Black Knights forced 29 turnovers in the loss after forcing 32 in the season opener against LIU Brooklyn. The most turnovers by an Army opponent in 2015-16 was 27 by Boston University on March 2, 2016.
YALE (1-1, 0-0 IVY LEAGUE)
• Yale enters Friday's game with a 1-1 record, following a 57-48 win over Binghamton on Nov. 13 and a 63-57 loss at Manhattan on Nov. 15.
• Lena Munzer and Tamara Simpson both scored in double figures in Yale's two games. Munzer led the Bulldogs in both contests, with 12 points and 25 points, respectively, while Simpson finished with 12 points against Binghamton and 10 at Manhattan.
