Army Sweeps Bucknell on Senior Day

WEST POINT, N.Y. – For the second straight year, the Army West Point volleyball team captured 20 regular season wins after sweeping Bucknell 3-0 on Saturday for Senior Day.

- Army improved to 20-10 overall and 12-4 in the Patriot League with tonight's win to secure the third seed in the tournament standings.
- Allie Strong led the Black Knights offensively with 12 kills and also tallied eight digs.
- Carolyn Bockrath also notched double-digit kills with 10, while Olivia Fairfield and Sydney Morriss trailed with seven apiece and Amber Clay had six.
- Clay and Shannel Chong both posted 12 digs and Nikki Lum recorded 11.
- Lum centered Army's offense with 27 assists and was helped by Haven Bethune who tallied 11.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first set was a little too close for comfort for the Black Knights as Bucknell trailed by just two points before Army would go on a 9-4 run to finish the set at 25-18.
- The Cadets held Bucknell to a .205 hitting percentage and allowed them just one block.
- The Bison took a 9-7 lead in the second set off of four errors by the Black Knights. Army evened things up at 11-all and the two teams would trade points until the match was knotted up again at 17-17 with Clay on a majority of the attacking points.
- Bucknell took a 22-19 lead before the Black Knights gained momentum and tied things up at 24-24 fueled by a 5-2 run.
- Army scored the next two points to take a 26-25 lead in the second before a kill by Clay clinched the set at 27-25.
- The Black Knights took an 18-13 lead in the third set fueled by a 6-0 run. However, the Bison went on a run of its own (6-2) to close the gap and trailed by just one point.
- Army closed out the set with a 4-1 advantage to clinch the set 25-22 and the match 3-0.

- Army will head to Washington, D.C., for the Patriot League semifinals next Friday.
