WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point hockey team continues its road trip this weekend in Pittsburgh as the Black Knights take on Robert Morris on Friday and Saturday night for two 7:05 p.m. Atlantic Hockey contests.Â

DETAILS
- This will mark the first Friday-Saturday contests of the season for the Cadets as they take on Robert Morris. Until this weekend, the Black Knights have only partaken in single-games each week and of their five games, only two have been against Atlantic Hockey opponents.
- This season, the Cadets are 2-0-0 against AHA foes with both wins coming over Sacred Heart in shutout fashion.
- Army's Parker Gahagen has not allowed a goal in league games this season.
- Robert Morris has only played in league contests with its only win coming over RIT (6-5). The Colonials have lost solo games to the Tigers (6-3) and Canisius (6-3), and tied the Golden Griffins in overtime (2-2).
- The rivalry between Army and the Colonials is more recent and dates back to just 2011 with Robert Morris holding a 10-4-4 advantage.
LAST WEEK: COMEBACK FALLS SHORT
- Army lost a tough 3-2 contest to Massachusetts last Friday night.
- The Minutemen went ahead 3-0 in the second period, but back-to-back power play goals by the Black Knights reignited their momentum. Plebe Zach Evancho netted his first-career off assists by firstie captain Ryan Nick and yearling Trevor Fidler.
- Then, one minute later, firstie C.J. Reuchlein connected with classmate Clint Carlisle to make it a one-goal game. Army was unable to post another goal in the even-shot contest.
- Robert Morris spent last weekend in Buffalo, N.Y., with a two-game series against Atlantic Hockey foe Canisius.
- Brady Ferguson had three points on the weekend for the Colonials off a goal and two assists, and Alex Tonge posted two power play goals in the Saturday night matchup.
LEAGUE SUCCESS

- The Army hockey team has seen early success in Atlantic Hockey contests.
- The Black Knights sit atop the AHA standings for the second-straight week with four points.
- Army has earned two shutout victories in conference play to earn those points, both of which were over Sacred Heart.
- In statistical standings, the Cadets rank first in several categories. Army is first in the penalty kill with a .967 success rate.
- The team also boasts a +3 special teams net, a goals against average of 1.22 and a save percentage of .956 for tops in the league.
NATIONAL RANKINGS
- Army currently ranks first in scoring defense nationally with an average of 1.25 goals per game.
- The Black Knights' penalty killing unit is tied for first with a .967 percent efficiency.
- Gahagen's goals against average of 1.23 ranks him first in the nation, while is .956 saves percentage places him second.
- His two shutouts have him tied for first in the category alongside players from No. 4 Boston U, No. 20 Bemidji State and UConn who is receiving votes.
SCOUTING THE COLONIALS
- Whereas the Black Knights rank highly in defensive statistics, the Robert Morris offense is equivalently successful.
- Brady Ferguson leads Atlantic Hockey players in points per game with a 2.5 average.
- The Colonials have a successful power play rate and take up the top three spots in power play points.
- Ferguson leads the charge with seven over five games, while Eric Israel tallied six and Tonge notched five, including two goals on the advantage.
- Robert Morris has seen its only win on the road in Rochester, N.Y., as it took down defending AHA Champion RIT 6-5 during the opening series.
- This will be the Colonial's opening weekend at the 84 Lumber Arena as all of their contests so far this season have been played away.
- The women's ice hockey team at Robert Morris are also home this weekend with contests against Mercyhurst set up before the men's games versus Army.
