Black Knights Blanked by Raiders

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Army West Point volleyball dropped a three setter to Colgate Friday night in Patriot League action. The Black Knights fell to 15-9 overall and 7-3 in the league.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND MATCH NOTES
- Olivia Fairfield led the Black Knights with 10 kills and was followed by Amber Clay (7), Allie Strong (4), Sydney Morriss (4) and Vanessa Wesley (3).
- Colgate held Army to 30 kills in the match and just 26 assists with Nikki Lum tallying 12 and Haven Bethune posting 11.
- Shannel Chong notched 10 digs for the Cadets and Wesley led with two solo blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Raiders came out strong in every set and led for the entirety of the match.
- In the first set, Colgate took a 9-5 lead before going on a 6-0 run. Then to close the set, the Raiders scored five points straight to claim the set 25-11.
- The Raiders went on a 7-0 run early in the second set to take a five point lead (11-6). Army notched a point to break-up the run, but Colgate sailed ahead 23-14 with four more points before claiming set two 25-15.
- After the Raiders took a 20-14 lead, Army tallied three consecutive points after taking a timeout. The comeback was too little, too late as Colgate finished the set on a 5-2 run to win the match.
